About us

John Beattie,  Race Engine Design’s founder started racing in 1975 competing in cars that included Lotus sevens and Clubmans Mallocks. Later developing a Gary Anderson (Jordan) penned single seater for hill climbing.

John quickly became known not only as a racing driver, but also as a highly skilled  Engine Designer and Builder, developing and maintaining his own engines.    As his racing successes continued, demand for John’s skills as an Engine Designer and Builder grew quickly, and resulted in John setting up Race Engine Design developing reliable competition engines with a focus not only on Race, but also for Rally, Sprint and Hill climb applications.
